The Clinical Waste Solution from SmartBin has been developed especially for the Clinical Waste collection and disposal market. The solution is especially intended for clinical waste collectors that manage multiple dispersed sites. By ensuring that collection is only performed when necessary, substantial savings can be realised. The solution consists of several elements shown above, and described below.
Bin Sensor
Bin sensors are compatible with a wide range of clinical waste bins. Each bin sensor is located discreetly in the top of each bin, from where it ‘measures’ the fill level of the bin and sends this information (and more) wirelessly to a locally installed 'Master', where the information is processed and then sent over the GSM (mobile phone) network to the SmartBin host server.
Sensors used in clinical waste bins can use either Ultrasonic or Infrared technology for sensing the fill-level, depending on the nature of the waste. Sensors also incorporate capabilities to 'measure' battery level, bin-empty events, bin movement, etc.
Sensors also have the ability to detect 'door-open' events and to track the location of the waste bin, if required.
Host Server
The wireless sensors communicate with the secure SmartBin host server, which parses the information received from the bins and processes this information with application specific software. The processed information is made available to clinical waste collectors on configurable websites.
Web Interface
The web interface provides a full service view of all monitored waste bins and a full suite of management reports, including alert SMS messages and email, etc. Check out the LiveDemo on this website to see live monitoring site in operation.
As all the information is provided over the internet, there is no need for SmartBin clients to invest in Information Technology or have specialist skills to adopt the service.
