CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, March 16th 2016 – SmartBin™ continues expansion throughout Australia with the announcement of a large deployment of SmartBin™ sensors on the Australian National University campus, Canberra.
SmartBin™, the leading, global provider of Intelligent Remote Monitoring solutions to the waste & recycling industry, have deployed their UBi fill-level sensors in litter bin assets throughout the ANU campus, enabling leading waste management provider SUEZ Australia & New Zealand to monitor the bin fill-levels and service at the optimum time.
Adopting cutting edge technology to optimise waste management dovetails fittingly with the philosophy of both SUEZ and ANU. SUEZ have championed several technological advancements in environmental sustainability including their biodiesel powered fleet and landfill waste-to-energy production, while ANU is renowned for innovation and environmental sustainability research.
The introduction of SmartBin™ monitoring means that litter bin servicing on campus will only occur when bins reach their ideal fill-level. SmartBin’s wireless UBi sensors report via cellular networks to the SmartBin Live platform, used by over 150 clients globally. As a result, ANU will enjoy the most efficient waste management service while SUEZ operates on the highest level of resource efficiency with the lowest possible carbon emissions.
Commenting on the deployment, SmartBin’s Head of Australian Operations, David Puxty, said “We are delighted to collaborate with two outstanding institutions in the Australian National University and SUEZ. This project reflects what can and will be achieved in terms of environmental sustainability and Smart City initiatives across Australia.”
